4/8/15 Possible Attempted Child Abduction

POSSIBLE ATTEMPTED CHILD ABDUCTION

On 4/8/2015 at approximately 5:45 pm, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Oak Creek Estates (formerly known as Burch’s Mobile Home Park) in Bourbonnais, IL.  Deputies were advised of an incident that had just occurred involving a 12 year-old girl that was walking in the park.  According to the girl, she was approached by an older white male with a white beard that was driving a newer model red (extended cab) pickup truck with black trim.  The girl explained that the driver said, “Hi” and inquired with her where she was going.  After the young girl responded, “I am going home”, the driver apparently told her, “No, you’re not going home, you’re getting in this truck.”

The girl advised deputies that the man attempted to grab her arm at which point she ran home and requested a relative call 911.  An older sibling explained that she has observed a vehicle and driver matching that description in the area as recently as yesterday and that she believed the license plate possibly started with 193 or 391.  However, it was earlier reported by the victim that the first three digits of the registration began with 291.

There is nothing additional to report at this time.  Kankakee County Sheriff’s Investigators continue to search for additional information and police officers are on the lookout for any vehicles matching that description.  Anyone with information that may assist detectives is encouraged to contact KanComm Dispatch at (815) 933-3324 (reference Sheriff’s Office case # 2015-009321).  More information will be provided if and when it becomes available.
