Freedom of Information Act

Requests under the FOIA:

All FOIA requests must be in writing and include your name, address, the date, and a daytime phone number so that the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office can contact you if they have any questions. Provide as much information as possible on the subject matter. Requests can be dropped off in person, faxed or mailed.

In Person:

Drop off at the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office between the hours of 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday. Office is closed on all federal holidays.

Fees:

No fees shall be charged for the first fifty (50) pages of black and white, letter or legal sized copies. Additional copies exceeding 50 pages are $0.15 per page. There is an additional charge for colored copies, if applicable.

If requesting electronic copies, the Sheriff’s Office may charge the requester for the actual cost of purchasing the recording medium, whether disc, diskette, or tape.

The cost for certifying a record is $10.00.
