Sheriff’s Investigators Arrest Mom/Boyfriend In Yesterday’s Homicide Death Of 1 Year-Old Child
November 27, 2018 – Kankakee, IL – On Monday (November 26th) at approximately 6:31 a.m., sheriff’s deputies were dispatched and responded to the Fairview Motel (2745 S Rt. 45/52, Kankakee, IL) in regards to an unresponsive 1 year-old child. Shortly after arrival, the child, Keon B. Brown, was pronounced deceased. It was later determined through an autopsy, that the preliminary cause of death was a result of blunt force trauma.
Sheriff’s investigators arrested 34 year-old, Dean A Williams of Kankakee and 23 year-old, Keyonna M Deckert, of Colorado, for 1st Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery. Both Williams and Deckert were booked into the Jerome Combs Detention Center and are awaiting their initial arraignment.
“I commend the quick work of the Coroner’s Office in completing the autopsy in such a short time frame to assist our investigators.” said Sheriff Mike Downey. “Additionally, considering the horrific circumstances, I am extremely grateful for the excellent working relationships our investigators have with the Coroner’s Office and the State’s Attorney’s Office.”
