Qualifications for the two positions are:
DEPUTY SHERIFF
Salary: $58,743.66 - $92,284.03 (30 years). Additional compensation includes overtime pay, holiday pay, uniform allowance ($800 cash, or $1,000 quartermaster per year), education pay ($40-$300 per month), fitness incentive (up to $1,620 per year), shift differential (up to $110 per month), and non-tobacco use incentive ($300 per year).
Benefits: include competitive medical insurance plans, tuition reimbursement, compensatory, and personal time off in addition to vacation and sick leave, take-home squad cars, and IMRF Pension Plan.
Lateral Transfers: A Police Officer with two years of experience as a certified Law Enforcement Officer in The State of Illinois will be hired at the two year mark with a base starting salary of $68,014.28. 21 years of age
60 hours of credit from an accredited college or university required for new applicants.
U.S. Armed Service Veteran’s with two years full-time service and Honorable Discharge do not need college credit to apply.
Qualified Lateral Transfers do not need college credit to apply.
Kankakee County Correctional Officers with at least two years of full time employment do not need college credit to apply

CORRECTIONAL OFFICER (Accepting Applications)
Salary: Starting pay at $49,849.66. Additional compensation includes overtime pay, holiday pay, uniform allowance, education incentive, fitness incentive, shift differential, and non-tobacco use incentive.
Lateral Transfers: A Correctional Officer with two years of experience as a certified Correctional Officer in the state of Illinois will be hired up to the 5 year contractual rate of pay at $61,178.73.
Benefits: include competitive medical insurance plans, tuition reimbursement, compensatory and personal time off in addition to vacation and sick leave, and IMRF Pension Plan.
