Deputies Locate Firearm, Drugs and Currency After Traffic Stop In Kankakee Saturday Afternoon
January 31, 2022- Kankakee, IL – Shortly before 2pm on Saturday afternoon Kankakee Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1600 block of East Court St in Kankakee. During the stop, deputies arrested the driver, 27 year-old Elijah J Campbell Sr. of Bourbonnais for driving on a suspended driver’s license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Additionally, officers arrested the sole passenger of the vehicle, 45 year-old Shamone K White, of Kankakee after finding a stolen, loaded handgun along with ammunition, several bags of Cannabis weighing over 2 lbs. and a quantity of cash.
White was transported to the Jerome Combs Detention Center where he is awaiting his initial court arraignment later today on the following charges: Armed Violence; Unlawful Possession of Cannabis/Passenger; Manufacturing/Delivery Cannabis/500<2000 grams; Possession of a Stolen Firearm; Felon in Possession/Use of a Weapon/Firearm and the Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon/Veh./ 2nd.
Campbell was already released after posting bond.
