Usmani Taken Into Custody in Chicago

January 19, 2019 – Kankakee, IL – Thesearch for a missing inmate that was inadvertently released from the JeromeCombs Detention Center yesterday evening has ended. At approximately 4:45pm, Anees Ahmed Usmani (41, from Chicago) was taken into custody withoutincident by Deputy U.S. Marshals and FBI Agents in the Lincolnwoodneighborhood. Usmani, who was being held in Kankakee on federaldrug-related offenses on behalf of the U.S. Marshals Service, was releasedinadvertently approximately 24 hours ago.
“We arecontinuing to investigate the incident to determine what mistakes were made andwhy,” said Kankakee County Sheriff Mike Downey. “We are extremelyappreciative to all of the local police agencies, the U.S. Marshals Service,the FBI, the US Attorney’s Office, as well as community-at-large, for assistingus in the search for Usmani.”
