Child Pornography Suspect Arrested

October 22, 2014: Kankakee, IL – Kankakee County resident, Eric L Knieriem (37 years of age) of rural Buckingham, was arrested on Monday (10/20/2014) after an extensive investigation into Child Pornography.  Agents from the Kankakee County Major Crimes Task Force worked in conjunction with the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office High Technology Crime Unit, the Sycamore Police Department, the Manteno Police Department, the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, the US Marshal’s Service and the Attorney General’s Office on the case, for which they have been working on since May of 2014.

Investigators executed a search warrant of Knieriem’s residence, located at 15667 West Rt 115, Buckingham, IL 60917, and recovered evidence consistent with the investigation into Knieriem’s possession of a substantial amount of Child Pornography.

“I credit and thank all of the agencies involved for the time and dedication put forth in this lengthy investigation.” Said Sheriff Tim Bukowski.  “Some of the things that investigators are forced to see during these types of investigations are simply unimaginable.  Ensuring that suspects, such as Mr. Knieriem, are kept off of our streets and away from our children is one of the most important roles that law enforcement plays in a community.”

Knieriem was taken to the Jerome Combs Detention Center pursuant to his arrest and remains in-custody on a $100,000 bond (10% to apply).  Knieriem has been charged with 720 ILCS 5/11-20.1B-A-2 (AGG CHILD PORN/DISSEM FILM; Class X Felony) and 2 counts of 720 ILCS 5/11-20.1-A-6 (CHILD PORN/POSS PHOTO/VIC <13; Class 2 Felonies), which was set in a Kankakee County courtroom yesterday.

Knieriem is due back in court for an arraignment hearing on 11.06/2014 at 9:30 in courtroom 309 (Kankakee County Courthouse, 450 E. Court St., Kankakee, IL 60901).
