Triad

Kankakee County TRIAD for Seniors – “Reducing Crime Against the Elderly.” is the goal of this service oriented organization. This county wide program was established to provide training to help our elderly population to protect themselves against bodily injury, frauds occurring in our area as well as to provide a clearinghouse of information for our senior population.

Since its inception here in the County in October of 1999, over 100 monthly seminars have been provided to area seniors at no cost to themselves. Senior volunteers and department personnel are currently planning on hosting the 12th Illinois State TRIAD conference in our area. This will be the fourth such event in the past six years to be held locally. Those seniors and area service providers who attend the monthly seminars continue to spread the word about this service. We are proud to be part of this endeavor supporting the seniors of our County and the State.

This group is open to the public and meets the first Wednesday of every month at Provena Heritage Village located at 901 N. Entrance Ave. in Kankakee at 10:00 am. Every month a new program is presented.

As part of this program, we support the AARP Driver Safety Program. This 8-hour seminar provides a refresher course for area seniors on the rules of the road as well as advice on how to enhance their driving safety as they travel throughout our area. This program is co-sponsored by Riverside Hospital.
