Sherrod pleads guilty in July 2013 Murder

SHERROD PLEADS GUILTY IN JULY ’13 MURDER

February 18, 2015: Kankakee, IL – Sixteen-Year-Old Vinshawn Sherrod, of rural Pembroke Township, pled guilty in a Kankakee County Courtroom earlier this morning in the July 28th, 2013 murder of 70 Year-Old Thad Wells Jr.  Sherrod pled guilty in exchange for 27 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, which will make him eligible for parole in 2040.

Sheriff Tim Bukowski credits his deputies and investigators in closing the case, “The comprehensive investigation, evidence collection and impeccable courtroom preparation ultimately led to this young offender’s guilty plea of 27 years behind bars and off of our streets.  I thank all of the officers involved in this case for their dedication to seeing a resolution in this case.  After hearing the details of this heinous crime, there is no question that this individual would have wreaked havoc in our community for years to come. ”
