Local police agencies were assisted by the US Marshals’ Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force last week, as compliance checks were conducted on local sex offenders throughout Kankakee County. Over the course of the week, almost 300 compliance checks were performed, which resulted in 35 violators. Numerous violators will be charged federally, while others will face local charges,
as a result of the violations.

“I sincerely thank the US Marshals’ Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and all of the assisting agencies for their efforts last week,” said Kankakee County Sheriff Mike Downey. “Joint operations, such as these, contribute to safer communities for all.”

Several investigations continue as a result of the compliance checks and additional arrests may result at a future date.
