Wisconsin Man Arrested At Local Motel After Holding Victim At Gunpoint
Deputies were dispatched to a local motel in the 2700 South block of US Route 45/52 shortly after 4am this morning in regards to an Unlawful Restraint/Kidnapping situation where the victim was able to escape and notify police. The victim, who was bound at the ankles, fled to another motel several blocks away where she was able to call 911. Sheriff’s deputies, along with officers from the Kankakee Police Department later located the offender, Danny S. Parnell, unconscious in the motel room. It was later determined that Parnell, 45 from Janesville, WI, was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Wisconsin. A stolen firearm that Parnell allegedly fired during the incident was recovered at the scene.
Parnell was taken into custody and transported to the Jerome Combs Detention Center where he will be arraigned on several charges, including the warrant out of WI, Aggravated Unlawful Restraint, Aggravated Kidnapping with a Firearm, Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Unlawful Use of a Weapon/Discharge. The case remains under investigation at this time.
“My heart goes out to the victim in this case, who had a tremendous amount of courage to be able to escape and contact the police,” said Sheriff Mike Downey. “I am grateful that our deputies, along with the Kankakee Police Department, were able to work so quickly to peacefully resolve such a dangerous situation and take Parnell into custody without incident.”
