Rural Burglaries Surge During Daytime Hours

Kankakee, IL – Kankakee County Sheriff Tim Bukowski warns area residents of a potential burglary ring that has been occurring over the last several weeks.  While detectives continue to investigate the burglaries, there are some obvious similarities that lead law enforcement to believe that most are inter-related.  In the last ten days alone, the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Deputies have responded to over 11 Burglary reports, all of which have occurred in the rural west/southwest portions of Kankakee County.  Many of the burglary victims have reported that the burglaries have likely occurred during the early afternoon hours.

Sheriff Tim Bukowski urges Kankakee County residents to take the necessary precautions to prevent being victimized.

“I encourage residents and area motorists to remain vigilant, especially in our rural areas,” said Sheriff Bukowski.  “Despite common misconceptions that the police are bothered or annoyed by receiving calls regarding suspicious vehicles or persons, we would very much rather be dispatched to a call regarding potential suspects as opposed to another burglary victim.”

Sheriff Bukowski reminds area residents that many of these burglaries have likely occurred during the times where school buses are unloading children in the area.  Please take note (including a license plate, if possible) of anything out of the ordinary, whether it be a vehicle or person(s).
