January 19, 2019 – Kankakee, IL – Local, state and federal law enforcement agencies are searching for an inmate that was inadvertently released from the Jerome Combs Detention Center yesterday evening. At approximately 4:30 pm yesterday afternoon, 41 year-old Anees Ahmed Usmani was discharged in place of another inmate by mistake. Usmani, who is being held in Kankakee for the US Marshals Service since December of 2018 on drug-related offenses, was dropped off at a local business after receiving a ride from another inmate who was being released simultaneously. Usmani has no history of weapons offenses. However, anyone with any information regarding his whereabouts should call 911, DO NOT APPROACH him.
