Sheriff/Coroner Screen Visitors to Public Safety Building Amid Pandemic
In an effort to limit exposures to the COVID-19 virus, Sheriff Mike Downey and Coroner Bob Gessner are screening visitors to the Timothy F. Bukowski Public Safety Center (administrative offices for both the Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office) until further notice. The building, located at 3000 South Justice Way, Kankakee, IL, will still be available to the public during regular business hours. However, a temperature screening will be conducted prior to admittance for all employees and visitors alike. It should be noted that our sworn deputies and corrections staff will still be working 24/7 as they always have/will.
“At this point, I think we have to make every effort to eliminate any potential chances of spreading the virus,” said Sheriff Mike Downey. “With the Governor’s recent proclamation temporarily closing the state excluding essential services, I think it only makes sense that we follow suit by verifying the well-being of our employees and visitors coming in and out of our buildings.”
