Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Man at Courthouse After He Attacks Woman while Going Through Security Checkpoint
Earlier this morning, sheriff’s deputies assigned to the Kankakee County Courthouse security detail arrested a man after he attacked a woman as the two were preparing to go through the metal detector/X-Ray machine. After a brief struggle with officers on scene, deputies arrested 29 year-old, Keith R Mattox, of Bradley, IL for Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest, Domestic Battery, Violation of an Order of Protection and Intimidating a Witness.
During the incident, Mattox was attempting to strike the victim after tackling her and grabbing/pulling her hair. One of the arresting deputies sustained minor injuries to his hand during the struggle. The victim was the petitioner on an active Order of Protection against Mattox. The incident was captured on video surveillance.
It should be noted that Mattox is currently on probation for Aggravated Battery causing Great Bodily Harm and the Unlawful Sale/Use of a Black Jack stemming from an incident in Manteno last November.
Mattox was transported to the Jerome Combs Detention Center where he will await his initial arraignment before a Kankakee County Judge.
