A Kankakee County Sheriff’s Deputy was on routine patrol when he interrupted a burglary in-progress earlier this morning.  Shortly before 3 AM, a deputy observed a suspicious vehicle at a construction site and solar farm in the area 4000 North and 5500 East Rd.  Upon investigating, the deputy noticed evidence consistent with a burglary and inconsistencies in the statements made by the suspect.  One of the burglary suspects initially fled from officers on a side-by-side (which was later determined to be reported stolen) but was eventually apprehended by a Bourbonnais Police K9.

Deputies took 33-year-old, Sean A Denby, of Kankakee, and 45-year-old, Ryan M Newberry, of Momence, into custody for the burglary and possessing burglary tools, in addition to another charge for Newberry for Possessing a Stolen Motor Vehicle.

“While our detectives continue to investigate the incident, I want to thank all of the officers for their efforts, particularly the sheriff’s deputy that initially located the burglary while on routine patrol,” said Sheriff Mike Downey.  “Additionally, I want to recognize the other assisting agencies, including the Bourbonnais Police Department, the Bradley Police Department and the Momence Police Department.”

Both Denby and Newberry were booked into the Jerome Combs Detention Center where they await their initial detention hearings in front of a Kankakee County Judge.
