US Marshal’s Service Assist Sheriff’s Office with Apprehension of Fugitive
Kankakee County Sheriff Mike Downey has announced the apprehension of 28-year old Terrence Roundtree. The Sheriff’s Office worked in conjunction with the US Marshal’s Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force to take Roundtree into custody in the Limestone area earlier yesterday morning. Authorities have been searching for Roundtree since a warrant was issued for his arrest on March 18th of this year. His warrant included nationwide extradition and has a $500,000 bond listed for the offenses of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Vehicle/School) and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
“I thank the US Marshal’s Service, as well as the hard work and dedication committed by law enforcement area-wide for the search and subsequent apprehension of such a dangerous individual after countless hours of investigatory work,” said Sheriff Mike Downey. “Given Mr. Roundtree’s demonstration and willingness to use violence and his obvious lack of concern for human life, I think our community can rest a bit easier having had him removed from our streets. The number of tips that we received over the last few months is an obvious indication that many, including his close friends/family, feel similarly about his apprehension.”
Kankakee County CrimeStoppers offered a $500 Cash Reward for information regarding Roundtree’s whereabouts earlier in the month. Roundtree is currently confined on a $500,000 bond at the Jerome Combs Detention Center in Kankakee where he will await his initial court arraignment.
